Rainham Hall
Located in a small hamlet near Dagenham, Rainham Hall is a rare example of a freestanding private house built in the 18th Century Dutch style, constructed in 1729 for a local merchant who supplied materials for the London building trade. The House is Grade II* Listed. A Quinquennial Inspection identified areas in need of repair and Richard Griffiths Architects were appointed to carry out extensive repairs to the external fabric. The roof was re-tiled, the rainwater pipes, lead flashings and gutters renewed and lighting protection installed. Brickwork to the house and garden walls was repaired and repointed. Internally, the upgrading of fire doors and the installation of a fire alarm system ensured that the house was protected and its future assured.
